EE “Bud” Sawyer, 83, of Valdosta, passed away on Friday, September 4, 2020. He was born on a farm in Rentz, GA, to Needham Elbert Sawyer and Leony Rowe Sawyer. Bud went on to serve in the United States Air Force. After his military service, he worked for National Cash Register. He retired from NCR after working there for 39 years 4 ½ months. He met and married JoAnn LeGette in 1991. He and JoAnn ministered at the Fellowship Nursing Home for 15 years. They were World Indigenous Missions Ambassadors, caring for missionary families and going on mission trips themselves. He was active in the Valdosta State Prison Ministry through Kairos and Flight Deck Prison Ministries. He has been a member of New Covenant Church since 1997.
His survivors include his wife JoAnn Sawyer; daughter Patricia James (Jeff); granddaughters Julie James, Katie James, and Lili James; great grandsons Zachary Holder and Malcom James. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Joshua Christopher Holder.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at New Covenant Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Mailbox Club, 404 Eager Road, Valdosta, GA, 31602. Condolences to the family may be expressed online at www.mclanecares.com. Carson McLane Funeral Home.
