IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Edgar J.
Allen
April 26, 1938 – December 20, 2025
Edgar J. Allen was born in Ashtabula, Ohio, on April 26, 1938. He grew up in Ohio and began his professional career there after graduating high school. Edgar proudly served as an Army medic, demonstrating his dedication and care for others.
Following his military service, Edgar earned multiple certifications and became qualified to work at Olin Chemicals. Outside of work, he enjoyed roller skating with his wife Joyce, a shared passion that led them to compete in many regional championships together.
After Olin Chemicals closed, Edgar and Joyce relocated to Maryland, where he worked as a specialist engineer for hospital systems at a Baltimore hospital. During their children’s youth, the family enjoyed trips to Niagara Falls, Cedar Point, the arcade, and frequent visits to Geneva-on-the-Lake.
Edgar had a lifelong love of cars, once proudly owning a 1956 Pontiac. He gifted his son Christopher a 1965 Mustang before Christopher left for military service, a cherished family memory.
Upon retirement, Edgar and Joyce returned to Ashtabula, Ohio, but later moved to Valdosta, Georgia, seeking warmer winters and to be closer to family. Edgar was a devoted father who raised his children with love and care.
He is survived by his sons Christopher Allen and his wife Shari of Valdosta, GA; Terry Allen of Washington State; and Brian Allen of Maryland. He also leaves behind grandchildren Caley and her husband Nick Gruebl, Jeffrey and his wife Edith Allen, Jennifer Apalar, Amanda Tyler, Jeannie McLean, Jacob Allen, and Alyssa Seville, all of Maryland.
No services have been planned as Edgar will be cremated according to his wishes. McLane Funeral Services is handling the arrangements.
