Eathel Futch Johnson

Eathel Virginia Futch Johnson, 85, of Hahira and beloved wife of the late E.D Johnson for sixty five years died Sunday, November 13, 2011 at her home after a brief illness. She was born in Hahira on July 15, 1926 to the late Ben and Emma Cowart Futch. Mrs. Johnson was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She treasured time spent with her family and friends and had a way of making everyone feel very special. Mrs. Johnson was a graduate of Hahira High School, class of 1943, and a member of Charity Baptist Church. She and her husband worked side by side for more than four decades owning and operating Hahira Hardware Company, Montgomery Ward catalog agency and Johnson's Frame shop.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Gerry Light of Valdosta; son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Wanda Johnson of Hahira; grandchildren, Cherie (John) Kools of Atlanta, Christina (Bobby) Walsh of Fredericksburg, Va, Jennifer (Keith) Reaves of Hahira, Melissa Johnson of Orlando, Fl, Lee (Annie) Jackson of Pavo, Reid (Kelley) Jackson of Brunswick; great grandchildren, Ashlee, Amber and Alexa Walsh, Gabby Rivera, Sarah Grace and Jackson Reaves, Cole and Cadence Jackson, Reese and Finn Jackson; Sister-in-law, Patricia W. Futch of Lake Park and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, E.D. Johnson and her grandson Bryan Timothy Jackson, three sisters, Neva Wilkins, Ruby Rice, Thelma Thomas and three brothers, Leslie Futch, Jewell Futch, and LeRoy Futch.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 16th, 2011 at 11 a. m. at Charity Baptist Church with burial following at Friendship Cemetery in Hahira. She will be placed in the church at 10 a. m. Dr. Clyde Stokes, Reverend Lee Graham and Elder Thad Marshall will officiate. The family will receive friends at Martin McLane funeral home in Hahira on Tuesday evening from 5-7 p. m.
