Douglas Ernest Whiddon, 85, Valdosta, died in Ray City, Friday, March 3, 2017. Born in Albany on October 25, 1931, he was the son of the late Claude and Eunice Denson Whiddon. A U.S. Navy veteran, Mr. Whiddon had worked as a librarian, retired from the South GA Regional Library and was a member of St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church. He loved reading and enjoyed time spent with his canine companion, Bo.
Survivors are a sister in law, Nancy Whiddon of Metter; two nieces, two nephews, several grand nieces and nephews and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by a brother, Claude Maurice Whiddon.
Graveside services will be held on Monday, March 6, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Carson McLane Funeral Home is serving the Whiddon family. Condolences may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com.
