Dorothy Juanita Weeks, age 88, of Barney, Georgia, passed away on Monday, February 23, 2026, at Archbold Memorial Hospital after a courageous battle with a lengthy illness. Born on October 8, 1937, in Lowndes County, daughter of the late Leon and Nancy Ray Tucker.
Mrs. Weeks dedicated over 30 years to Southern Bell, beginning her career as a telephone operator and advancing to the role of drafting engineer before retiring. She was a devoted member of Pleasant Way Baptist Church, where her faith and community were central to her life.
She is survived by her daughter Teresa Hall and son-in-law Benjie of Pavo; son-in-law Ricky McDonald of Valdosta; son Norman Wade and his wife Doris of Pelham, Georgia; grandchildren Sherman (Amy) Hall, III of Valdosta, Jordan (Jose) Mendoza of Clarksville, Tennessee, Brittany McDonald (Sam Garvin) of Westmoreland, Tennessee, and Brittnee Brown of Hartsfield, Alabama; and great-grandchildren Greyson Hall of Valdosta, Jacob, Isabella, and Emerson Mendoza of Clarksville, Tennessee, Rosalina and Damien Laford of Panama City, Florida, and Liam Weeks of Adel. She also leaves behind her sister Linda Weeks of Warner Robins, Georgia, and brother Leon Tucker (Pam) of Valdosta, as well as many other family members and friends.
Mrs. Weeks was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Norman Weeks; daughter Sherry McDonald; grandsons Bradley Kyle Hall and Joshua Wade Weeks; and sister Betty Young.
A graveside service to honor Mrs. Weeks’ life will be held at 12 Noon on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Pleasant Way Baptist Church Cemetery, with Reverend Bill Watson officiating. The family will receive visitors from 11:00 AM until service time at the church. Friends and family are invited to share condolences and memories online at www.mclanecares.com.
