Dorothy Harris Batten

Dorothy Harris Batten, 63, of Valdosta, died on Thursday, October 23, 2014 following a lengthy illness. She was born in Valdosta on March 5, 1951 to the late Thomas J. and Dorothy Mims Harris. She was a homemaker and of the Holiness faith. Dorothy loved to cook and would often take plates of food she had prepared to family, friends and neighbors. She also enjoyed fishing and spending time with those she loved.

Survivors include a sister, Betty Taylor of Valdosta; a brother, Billy Ray Harris of Tampa, Florida; a sister, Barbara McLeod of Valdosta. She was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Batten; a sister, Carolyn Sue Bellew; two brothers, Tommy Harris and Jimmy Harris.

Services for Dorothy Harris Batten will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 26, 2014 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev Zach Corbett and Rev. Mickey Corbett officiating. The burial will follow in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
