Dorothy H. Nelson

Dorothy H. Nelson, 89, of Hahira died Monday, October 20, 2014 at Smith Northview Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was born in Quitman on March 1, 1925 to the late Charles L. and Eula Williams Uhl and had lived in Hahira for many years. Mrs. Nelson owned and operated the B&N Restaurant in Hahira for many years and was a member of the Cecil Baptist Church. She loved spending time with her family and especially children, she loved to dance, fish and cook.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, Sandra Southard of Adel, Dickie and Ginny Nelson, Bobby and Sharon Nelson all of Hahira, Dottie and Kenny Sparkman of Adel, Rusty Nelson, James, Jr. and Barbara Nelson, Mary Ann and Paul Brumfield all of Hahira; 23-grandchildren, 32-great grandchildren and 6-great great grandchildren and many cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Bartlett Nelson, Sr., two sons in law, Godfrey Southard and Glenn Fordham and a daughter in law, Jody Nelson Fiveash.

Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Friendship Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-8pm at the Martin/McLane Funeral Home.
