Donald Ray Teter, 81, of Valdosta, passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at Langdale Hospice House.

Born on November 24, 1944, in Byesville, Ohio, he was the son of the late William Dice Teter and Freda Marie Robey Teter. Mr. Teter honorably served his country for 38 years, retiring after 23 years of active military service and an additional 15 years in Civil Service as Deputy Fire Chief.

Mr. Teter was a devoted member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and was active in the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life, including carpentry, golfing, fishing, gardening, and playing poker. He loved people and was most proud of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dianna Joyce Teter of Valdosta; two daughters, Dawn Marie Hiers (John) of Pine Mountain, Georgia, and Tracy Lynn Minter (Lin) of Clyattville, Georgia; four grandchildren, Kayla Marie Moore, Heather Lynn Dixon, Eugene Linden Minter III, and Joseph Ray Minter; three great-grandchildren, Coralie Grace Moore, Abigail Ruth Dixon, and Kenneth Mason Dixon; his brother and sister-in-law, Jerry Lee Teter (Cindy) of Cambridge, Ohio, his sister-in-law, Rev. Jean Teter, and his twin sister and brother-in-law, Dorothy Gay McElroy (Eugene). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Rev. Allan Dice Teter.

On Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Carson McLane Funeral Home a Rosary service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Visitation from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.

The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, June 29, 2026, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Mr. Teter will be entombed at McLane Riverview Mausoleum.
