Dolores Bustos Hamilton, 91, of Valdosta, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2026. She was born on September 14, 1934 in Mansantol, Pampanga, Philippines.

Mrs. Hamilton was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother. She spent her childhood and young adult life in the Philippines until she met the love of her life—an American soldier— with whom she built a life filled with romance, adventure and love. Together, they built a beautiful family and life in Valdosta, Georgia.

She loved to travel and was fiercely independent in her professional pursuits. She worked as an accountant for CED until she retired after 24 years. Her faith and community at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church were primary pillars in her life. She devoted countless hours to volunteering, making rosaries, masks and other handmade goods for marginalized communities, refugees, health care workers, and veterans.

She loved the Braves and never missed a Valdosta Wildcats home football game. Mrs. Hamilton was a skilled seamstress who often wore high-fashion clothes that she made herself. Her embroidery, crochet, and other hand crafted pieces can be found throughout her home.

She was an avid reader, baker, and loved a good film. Her recent favorite pastimes included a good beach day, prayer, playing with her dogs, and spending quality time with her family.

Mrs. Hamilton is survived by her daughter, Merinell (Bill) Flick; her son, Billy Hamilton; grandchildren, Amber (Sarah Rose) Hamilton, Chaise (Taylor) Powers, Tanner (KC) Flick, Jakob (Emily) Flick, Jaden Flick; great-grandchildren, Mason Powers, Avery Flick, Troy Powers, Hart Flick, and Quinn Flick; nephews and niece, Ken Nelson, David Nelson, Lisa S. McKindley. She was preceded by her father, Gregorio Bustos, mother, Florencia Manansala, sister Pastora B. Nelson, husband, Bill Hamilton; and her son, Paul Hamilton.

The wake will be held at Carson McLane Funeral Home on Thursday, August 27 from 5:00-7:00 PM. The rosary service will begin at 5:00 PM followed by the viewing and time with Mrs. Hamilton’s family.

The funeral will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church on Friday, August 28, at 10:00 AM followed by the funeral procession to Riverview Cemetery for the graveside service. Online condolences may be shared at www.mclanecares.com. Carson McLane Funeral Home
