Dolly Price Herndon

Dolly Price Herndon, 90, of Valdosta, died on Monday, July 14, 2025, at Fellowship Home. Born in Emanuel County on October 27, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Louvesta Henry and Elder Willie Eugene Price. Louvesta died after childbirth and Elder Price married Endia Perkins who raised Dolly and her brother Kenneth. The Price family grew with the birth of two additional sons and two daughters. Growing up in Brooks County, Dolly attended and graduated from Dixie High School, where she was a star basketball player and where her father taught school. She married her high school sweetheart, Albert Herndon on December 11, 1953. Dolly worked at several doctors’ offices during her earlier years but was primarily a devoted homemaker. She also loved cooking for her family, holiday meals being her specialty. In her younger years she played the piano when her father preached in churches around the area and she was a member of Grace Community Chapel for many years.

Survivors include her husband, Albert H. Herndon of Valdosta, three daughters and sons in law, Cathie & Mike Grant of Valdosta, Darlene & Mark Ridley of Valdosta and Wanda & Jerry Zaneski of Trinity, FL; her brother W. Dewey Price of Jacksonville, FL; seven grandchildren, Erin Zaneski, Matt Zaneski, Lee (& Keira) Grant, Dr. Devin (& Lindsay) Grant, Kalen (& Mary) Grant, Rebekah (& Marcus) Norrell and Rachael Boyd. Also surviving are 12 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, a brother in law and sister in law, Glenn and Pat Herndon of Decatur, and sister in law, Linda Ramirez of Albuquerque, NM.  She was preceded in death by sisters Mary Frances Price, Linda Price Oliveto, brothers George Billy Price and Kenneth E. Price Sr and a great grandson Jackson Lee Grant.

The funeral for Mrs. Herndon will be held at 10 am on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at the Pavilion at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. Pastor T.C. Norris will officiate. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:30 am until service time.
