Deirdre Starling Maine, 55 of Hahira, died on Friday, July 4, 2025, after battling severe illness for over 2 years, at Emory University Hospital. She was born on January 29, 1970, in Sylvester and moved with her family to Valdosta at an early age. Attending Lowndes County Schools, she graduated from Lowndes High School in 1988. Deirdre briefly attended Valdosta State University before starting to work in the office at Evangel Assembly of God. She worked at Evangel for several years before the church moved and became The Rock Church. Deirdre became a charter member of The Rock Church and continued to work in the office for several more years. In the early 2000’s she went to work at AquaTerm in their office and worked there for 20 years. Then in 2022, she became an Administrative Assistant at Stevens & Keesling CPA firm and worked until her health prevented her from continuing. Deirdre remained a faithful member of The Rock Church and was a member of the praise team for more than 20 years. She most loved spending quality time with Kristen, her daughter, shopping, having coffee, laughing and getting their nails done.
Survivors include her daughter and son in law, Kristen & Tyler Parsons of Hahira; her mother, Mildred Starling of Hahira; three brothers and two sisters in law, Wayne & Kim Starling of Virginia, Glen & Jerolyn Starling of Hahira and Dale Starling of Phoenix, AZ; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Darryl Starling and her grandmother, Pauline Ritter.
The funeral for Deirdre will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at The Rock Church. Pastor Glen Starling will officiate. A private family burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service on Tuesday from 11:30 until 1 pm.
