Deane Alice Hayes Smith

Deane Smith, 86, of Valdosta, died on Thursday, Decmeber 15, 2005, at the Presbyterian Home in Quitman. Born in Traverse City, Michigan on October 14, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Walter Joseph and Deane Stanton Hayes. Mrs. Smith was a school crossing guard for the Valdosta City School System. She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church and was a volunteer with the Pink Ladies at South Georgia Medical Center.

Survivors are her husband, James O. Smith of Valdosta, her children, James Smith III of Valdosta, Viki Bowen of Plant City, Florida, Suzie Hubbell of Acworth, Diane Smith of Valdosta, Holly Smith of Lake Haven, Florida, David and Dixie Smith of Marietta, fifteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2005, at 6 p.m.at Christ Episcopal Church. The Reverend Peter Ingeman, The Reverend Lee Shafer, Deacon Patricia Marks, and Phyllis Hiers will officiate. Condolences may be conveyed online at obituaries at www.mclanefuneralservices.com.
