David J Burton

David J. Burton, 74, of Lake Park, died following a lengthy illness, at the Presbyterian Home in Brooks County, on Wednesday, November 6, 2024. David was born on February 15, 1950, in Summerset, Kentucky, a son of the late Kenneth Burton and Ida Christeen Worley. He was an auto worker with Ford Motor Company.

David loved his family, and his life revolved around those he loved. He continued to be active in his retirement. He had a passion for fast cars, motorcycles, and open wheel race cars. A pool shark, he enjoyed the camaraderie and skills of a good game of pool with his closest buddies. David loved hunting, fishing, camping and simply being in the great outdoors.

Survivors are his loving wife, Carmen Ellen Wade Burton of Valdosta; son, Kilby Burton of Lake Park; grandchildren, Jacquelin Paige Burton Plymel of Moultrie, Corey Burton, Sara Meritt of Lake Park. Also surviving are his siblings, Eddie Burton of Kentucky, Betty Corder (Glenn) of Summerset, Kentucky, Shirley Carver (Jay) of Daytona, Florida, Jean Williams of Indiana, and Lawrence Buster (Jody) of Whitley City, Kentucky. David was preceded in death by his parents. He is now resting peacefully with his son, Kevin Burton and his daughter, Angela Boyd who also passed before him. 

The family will have a private gathering in memory of Mr. Burton. No formal services will be held. McLane Funeral and Cremation Services have been entrusted to care for the Burton family.
