David Brian Schulman, 66, of Valdosta, died on Sunday, May 21, 2023, which was his birthday. Born in Brooklyn, NY to the late Murray & Rose Sunshine Schulman, he had been a resident of this area for the past 40 years. David has lived at Parkwood Development Center and though limited in some aspects of life, he still had a profound impact on many people in Valdosta. On March 17, 2023, David was honored by Mayor Scott Matheson with a Proclamation that made that day David Schulman Day. In his Proclamation, Mayor Matheson noted many things. David was someone who cared deeply about his family, friends and caregivers at Parkwood, and he had a zest for life that brought joy to many folks. It was also noted that David was a big fan of the Valdosta Fire Department and loved any opportunity to see Fire Trucks and Firefighters and was an overall outstanding citizen who brightened everyone’s lives with his infectious smile.
David is survived by two brothers and a sister-in-law, Barry & Mischa Schulman of Antibes, France and Alan Schulman of Blairsville; three nephews and a niece, John Schulman and Joseph Schulman, both of Antibes, France, Joe (& Cady) Schulman of Cartersville, and Rachel Barnhard of Lilburn.
A graveside funeral service will be held for David at 10 am on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, in the Hebrew Section of Sunset Hill Cemetery. Rabbi Moshe Elbaz will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Miracle League of Valdosta, www.valdostamiracles.org/donate.html.
