It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Dale Gordon Burns, 66.
Dale was born on August 24, 1957 in Valdosta to parents Margaret Hendry and Lloyd Burns and died peacefully in his sleep on the night of October 5, 2023 at his home in Quitman.
Dale was a free spirit with a passion for the arts. He was a proud father and grandfather, and cherished family more than anything. Dale loved to spend his free time at the family’s lake in Valdosta where he enjoyed the simple life, boiling peanuts and churning peach ice cream while dreaming of one day starting a little farm. His hobbies include spending time with family, cooking, playing guitar, duck hunting with his brothers, reading mystery novels, solving crossword puzzles, and keeping his family up to date on all things film and music. He loved to reminisce about the good ole days while striving to help create new memories for his loved ones. Dale was an enthusiastic soul with an infectious laugh whose legacy will be treasured forever.
Dale is survived by his daughters, Alyson (Hans) Burns of Charleston, SC and Emily Burns of Atlanta and his grandson, Wolfe Kershaw of Charleston, SC. Additionally, he is survived by his siblings, Mitchell “Mickey” Burns of Valdosta, Melissa (Peter) Epes of Valdosta, Daniel “Danny” (Mary) Burns of Hahira, and MaryAnne (Larry) Nissen of Leland, NC. But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.”
