Cinderella Mildred Roberts Lewis passed away on June 7, 2009. Beloved mother of John Hampden Roland Lewis, Margaret Lynn Lewis Robison, the late Southerner Meriwether, Jr., Cynthia Anne, and George Spencer Roberts Lewis. Grandmother of Southerner Meriwether Lewis, III, Justin J., Jonathan A., and Joseph D. Robison, George Washington Lewis, and Katherine Lillian Margaret Lynn Lewis. Great-grandmother of Sierra Marie, Summer Elise, and Sienna Michelle Lewis, Megan Elizabeth Robison, Jonathan Jacory, Jaciante Jackieshalynn, Avery Joseph, Amber Jailee, and Jaelin Rene Berry. Beloved wife of the late Southerner Meriwether Lawson Lewis, Sr.
Mrs. Lewis was the retired general manager of the Monticello Drug Company, a Real Estate Investor, a Civic and Community leader and president of I.R.R.P.I. Investments – Echols Co. Georgia. She was also one of the original founders of the Westbank Art Guild - long-time member - past president (1983-84), 50 year historian of the Algiers Irish Association, 50 year member with the American National Red Cross, member of the daughters of the American Revolution, graduate of Soule' Business College, leader of Algiers Cub Scouts Den #6 pack #4 leader (1955-1961), Boy Scouts of America (1961-1966) and recipient of the "Honor Citation", State of Louisiana Senate Chamber Baton Rouge Honorary State Senator, State of LA Executive Dept. Colonel on the Staff of Gov. John McKeithen, State of LA Dept. of Justice Honorary Attorney General, Theta Sigma Phi (National Professional Society for Women's Journalism and Communications), Recognized by Loyola University Department of Education, member of the American Federation of Police for 45 years, Archdiocesan Council of Catholic Women for 20 years including past president, Holy Name of Mary School Parent's Club president for 6 years and Public Relations for 15 years, De La Salle High School Parents Club, received 18 City of New Orleans Mayoralty Merits of Achievement during the years 1956-1990, Jo Ellen Smith Memorial Hospital recognition of outstanding volunteer programmer, Echols County Georgia Historical Society and the Echols County High School Valedictorian 1931 – Basketball- All State.
Funeral services for Mrs. Lewis will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2009 at Macedonia Baptist Church in Echols County. Rev. James Countryman and Rev. Jim Schappaugh will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service on Friday.
