Christine (Chris) Harris Dennis of Valdosta, Georgia departed this life to her eternal home at the age of 92 on June 28, 2025. She was surrounded by family and friends as she transitioned to eternity.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Wallace Dewitt Dennis Sr, her children, Wallace (Wally) Dewitt Dennis Jr and Patricia Carpenter, sons-in law Kimball Carpenter Sr, Joseph Silver Jr, and Kenneth Vest; daughter-in-law Deborah Dennis, her siblings: TJ Harris, Roy Harris, Ruth Morgan, Mary Linahan, Ton Harris, Shirley Valley, Vivian Lehman, and Murray Harris; and her grandson James Alexander (Alex) Carpenter. Chris met the love of her life, Wallace Dewitt Dennis Sr in 1948 while they were both working at Sam Lazarus and Sons as clothing clerks. They were married on August 30, 1952 and shared many cherished years with beautiful memories of their four children until his passing on April 29, 1979. Chris worked many years at Crackin’ Good Bakery before devoting herself full-time to raising her children as a stay-at-home mother.

One of her greatest joys in life was spending time with her grandchildren and great grand children whom she adored beyond measure. From car pick up lines at schools to quiet moments at home, she enjoyed each and every minute. Chris treasured the simple joys of life, especially the special times spent with her niece, Dian Tarpley and her late husband CT sipping coffee together in the mornings, relaxing by the pool, riding golf carts, and listening to music. These moments brought her laughter and lasting memories.

Everyone who knew her knew she had a zest for life! She loved playing Bingo, raising cockatoo birds, riding jet skis, and in her later years relaxing while watching game shows-especially her favorite, Family Feud with Steve Harvey. Chris spent her final days at Lakeland Villa, where she was surrounded by love and support. The family would like to extend a special thank you and is forever grateful to her very special caregiver Cassandra Simmons who lovingly called her ‘Sunshine’ often taking her out on the town and then in her final days visiting her frequently, filling those moments with love, joy, and comfort. Chris and the entire family also cherish the special visits from her niece DeeDee Harris which always brightened her day and put a smile on her face.
