Charles “Charlie” Register

Charles “Charlie” Register, 74, of Valdosta, died on Wednesday, June 11th, 2025. Charlie was born in Valdosta in 1951 to the late William Tally “W.T.” and Iris Register. Charlie had a passion for music beginning in his teens and played bass in a garage band “The Peppermint Styx” with his cousins and friends. His brother, Andy Register, managed the band and his mother, Iris Register, was an avid fan as the teens practiced at her home. He graduated from Valdosta High school in 1969. The same year, he met the love of his life, the former Connie Caudle. Soon after high school graduation, Charlie joined the U.S Navy. Charlie and Connie were married on June 20, 1971 and moved to North Carolina, then to Virginia, and finally back to Valdosta upon his discharge. While enlisted, Charlie was quickly promoted and authored documents for security to the Pentagon earning the Navy Achievement Award. Charlie was always an overachiever. While enlisted, he continued his education completing his accounting degree at Valdosta State College. Upon his discharge and return to Valdosta, he began what would become a 30-year career with Bo Williams at Country Cobbler, retiring in 2015, managing growth in the locally owned business and mentoring countless employees. Charlie also started an accounting and tax firm, CWR Tax Solutions, which he actively ran until his last days. Charlie’s faith was the center of his life and he was a faithful member of Redeemer Presbyterian Church where he served as Elder and Treasurer.

Survivors include his wife, Connie Register of Valdosta; daughter and son in law, Catherine and Ben Riggle of Talking Rock; son and daughter in law, Stephen and Kelly Register of Hahira, grandchildren, Ethan and Emma Riggle, Luke and Bradley Register; his sister and brother in law, Joyce and Wayne Warren, sister in law, Lynn McLaurin of Monticello, sister in law and brother in law, Chris and Max Austin of Valdosta, brothers in law and sisters in law, Gary and Rhonda Caudle of Lake Park, Mark and Mary Caudle of Tallahassee, FL., Tim Caudle of Lake Seminole; numerous nieces and nephews. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents in law, Gloria and Alec Caudle, a brother, Andrew Register, brothers in law, Evon McLaurin and Mac McRae and nephew Brian McLaurin.

Funeral services for Mr. Charles Register will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Pastor Scott Horne will officiate. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5 -7 p.m. Interment will be later at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.
