Charles Alexander Powell Iii

Charles Alexander Powell, III, 81, of Valdosta, passed away at South Georgia Medical Center on April 12, 2023. Born in Rahway, Union County, New Jersey on January 30, 1942, Charles was the son of the late Charles Augustus Powell and Christina McKenzie McAllister Powell. A retired educator, Mr. Powell taught high school history, and law, for thirty years in the Lowndes County School System. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Valdosta.

Survivors are his beloved wife, Mary Wolinski Powell of Valdosta; sons, Charles Alexander Powell IV of Valdosta, Harrison Andrew (Danni) Powell of Hahira; daughter, Jennifer Johnson (Ron) Smith of Macon; grandchildren, Lucas Powell, Drew Powell, Grace Powell, Daniel Powell, Christopher Johnson, Bradley Johnson, Alex Johnson, Allison Johnson.

A memorial service for Mr. Powell will be held at 11am on Monday, April 17, 2023, in the Langdale Chapel at First Baptist Church of Valdsota. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10-11am. Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com.
