Celene Smith Dewitt, 85, of Valdosta, died on Friday, October 4, 2024, at Langdale Hospice House. She was born on July 7, 1939, in Gloversville, New York to the late Carlton and Mary Jane Paul Smith. Mrs. Dewitt was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by two sons and four daughters, Donald (Judy) Dewitt of Valdosta, James Dewitt of New York, Tammy (Donald) Reynolds of Valdosta, Deborah Naraine of Valdosta, Andrea (Leo) Alcantor of Florida, and Melinda (Jason) Dewitt of Valdosta; 11 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-greatgrandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, Edward Albert Dewitt, her son, Edward Dewitt, her daughter, Daphne Fortune, and her grandsons, Dennis Barton II and Patrick Naraine.
A memorial service for Celene Smith Dewitt will be held at a later date and time. Mrs. Dewitt will be cremated according to her wishes and the urn burial will be in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Langdale Hospice House.
