Carolyn Wetherington

Carolyn Wetherington, 85, of Richmond Hill, Georgia was called home on Wednesday, August 2, 2023. She was born in Valdosta, Georgia on October 12, 1937, to the late Ralph and Mamie Lee Wells. She was a graduate of Valdosta High School class of 1955. She was married to the late Willie J. Wetherington in 1955, and they were married for 56 years until his death in 2011. She worked as a child caregiver and water aerobics instructor while living in Thornton, Colorado, which gave her great joy. Upon her retirement, she moved to Maitland, Florida and later Richmond Hill, Georgia. She was a long-time member of the Central Avenue Church of Christ in Valdosta, GA, Northwest Church of Christ in Westminster, CO, Palm Coast Church of Christ, Altamonte Springs, FL, and Richmond Hill Church of Christ in Richmond Hill, GA.

Her survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Tonya and Dan Tyson of Richmond Hill, Georgia, Terri and Lee Freeman of Longwood, Florida, Lori and Tom Bogan of Longmont, Colorado. Seven grandchildren, Emily Gardner, Gabrielle Roberts, Ashlyn Tyson, Lauren Freeman, Eric Freeman, Wesley Bogan and Savannah Bogan; and three great grandchildren Jackson Roberts, Dana Roberts, Willow Shipper. One sister, the little sister she prayed for for nine years, Glenda Smith of Green Cove Springs, Florida.

A graveside service will be held at 1pm on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at Sunset Hill Cemetery, with Mr. Johnny Crowley, Mr. Brandon Smith, and Mr. Wesley Bogan officiating. The family will receive friends at the Carson McLane Funeral Home from 12-1pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Parkinson's Foundation in her name.
