Carol Barker peacefully went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 15th, surrounded by her beloved family and friends. She was a faithful, caring, and deeply loving wife, mother, Nana, and friend. A true woman of God who devoted her life to Jesus and radiated His love in all she did. Carol dearly loved others and was dearly loved in return. She lived a generous, selfless life, and her legacy will live on through the many lives she impacted for God’s glory.
Carol was born on December 18, 1945, in Valdosta. After graduating from Valdosta High and the University of Georgia, she married her high school sweetheart, Sirois Barker. Sirois is the founder of SC Barker Construction Company of Valdosta. She was also a licensed airplane pilot, a testament to her adventurous and determined spirit.
A passionate prayer warrior, Carol faithfully prayed for her church and community. She deeply loved her New Covenant Church family, where she and Sirois have been members since the 1980s. Over the years, she help lead Bible studies, prayer groups, and together with Sirois, hosted a home church through New Covenant for nearly 15 years.
Carol is survived by her husband, Sirois Barker; her sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin & Meredith Barker and Brinson & Lori Barker; grandsons Elijah Barker (Abigail), Asher Barker, Davis Barker, Seth Barker, and Everett Barker. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Kay Henry and a niece and many nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy “Jackie” Studstill Harris, her father, Melville “BB” Harris, her sister Marsha Rudolph and brother-in-law Jack Rudolph, mother-in-law Hazel Ray Barker and infant granddaughter, Abigaile Grace Barker.
We will all miss Carol deeply, but we rejoice in knowing that those who trust in Jesus will see her again.
