Carl Walter White

Carl Walter White, 81, of Dixie, died on Monday, January 15, 2024, at Fellowship Home in Brooks County. A lifelong resident of Dixie, Carl was born the son of the late Edwin Walter White and Edna Maria Mitchell White on January 3, 1943. He was an Army veteran and a member of Dixie United Methodist Church.

Carl was a farmer. He raised hogs and grew row crops. He enjoyed tinkering with his M39 Farmall tractor and his 1930 Model A Ford car. Carl actively served as chairman on many civic and community boards, including the board of Westbrook School in Dixie and was Chief of the Dixie Area Volunteer Fire Department.

Carl is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carolyn Cook White of Dixie; his children, Carl Walter White, Jr. (Guinka Atanassova) of Norcross; Merry Kathleen (James) Sullivan of Statesboro; John Edwin (Amanda) White of Statesboro; grandchildren, Charles Boris White and Lilia Victoria White of Norcross; Katlyn Sullivan of Statesboro; Aubree White, Austin White, and Georgia White of Statesboro; sisters, Hazel Stansel of Dalton; and Edwina (Milton) Meadows of Hubbard, Texas. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Michelle Hamlin and son-in-law, David A. Hamlin.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Quitman First Baptist Church. Reverend Steve Shierling will officiate. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 1 p.m. until service time. Burial will be at Dixie Cemetery. Carson McLane Funeral Home is serving the White Family. www.mclanecares.com.
