IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Carey Wilson (“Sonny”)
Wells, Jr.
October 9, 1933 – January 31, 2026
Carey Wilson Wells Jr. (“Sonny”), age 92, of Valdosta, Georgia, passed away peacefully at home on January 31, 2026. He was born on October 9, 1933, to Carey W. Wells Sr. and Leila S. Wells.
Carey was the beloved husband of Marie Wells, with whom he shared 67 years of marriage. He is survived by his loving wife, his two daughters, three grandchildren, and eleven great-grandchildren, all of whom were the greatest joy of his life. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Wells.
Carey proudly served two years in the United States Navy and later attended Valdosta State College. He spent 42 years working as a Lab Technician at Owens-Illinois Papermill, where he was known for his dedication and strong work ethic before retiring.
Known to many as “Sonny,” or simply Papa. Carey was remembered for his infectious smile, positive outlook on life, and gentle spirit. He was a gifted artist who enjoyed wood carving, and he found happiness being outdoors, working on his many projects, and discovering ways to improve nearly anything he touched.
A devoted Christian, who proudly shared his faith and personal experiences to others. Carey cherished his family above all else. He loved deeply, lived faithfully, and left behind a legacy of kindness, creativity, and quiet strength that will be carried on by those who loved him.
Services will be private and Mr. Wells will be buried at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens.
