Brenda Lee Barclay, 81, of Valdosta, peacefully passed away Friday, January 12, 2024, at Langdale Hospice House following a period of declining health. She was born on April 6, 1942, in Columbia, South Carolina to the late Joe and Mabel Starr Lee. Brenda graduated from Valdosta High School, Wesleyan College in Macon, Ga., and obtained her Masters at the University of North Florida. She was a retired educator having served in the Duval County School system in Jacksonville, Florida. Most of her tenure as an English teacher took place at Ed White High School and ending her career at Baldwin High School both in Jacksonville. She was a member of Avondale Methodist Church and a member of P.E.O. International, a Philanthropic organization. She was a very gifted and talented writer and an avid reader.
She is survived by her daughter, Jodi B. Tygrest of Jacksonville; a brother and sister-in-law, Hank and Claire Lee of Valdosta; her stepmother, Joan C. Lee of Valdosta; a nephew and his spouse, Jeff and Gretchen Lee of Park City, Utah; a niece, Anna Lee of Columbia, SC.; great-niece, Madelyn Lee and two great-nephews, Cole Lee and Tucker Lee, all of Park City, Utah; a grand-dog, Baxter.
A graveside service for Brenda Lee Barclay will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Sunset Hill Cemetery with Rev. Mike Nelligan officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Brenda’s memory to Langdale Hospice House. 2263 Pineview Drive Valdosta GA 31602.
