Bonnie Parker, 90, of Fayetteville, NC, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, April 4, 2024. Bonnie was born on April 30, 1933 in May Day, GA. She is the daughter of the late Ollie and Amy Wetherington and is predeceased by her sister Brona Garvin, and her brothers Hartford Wetherington, Gary Wetherington and Malcolm Wetherington.

She is survived by her son, Kenneth Tomlinson (Lisa), and daughter Lynne Yates (Mark); grandchildren, Kristen Mumley (Jared), Whitney Yates, Lindsay Yates, Daniel Diestler, Elias Diestler; great-grandchildren, Jordan and Clara.

Bonnie was blessed to have two loves in her lifetime. She married her first love, Leon Tomlinson, in January 1953 in Valdosta, GA and moved to Fayetteville, NC shortly thereafter to establish Massey Hill Drug Store where she worked alongside Leon as the bookkeeper. Bonnie and Leon were married 22 years before he went to be with his Heavenly Father. Several years later, she met and married her second love, Alton Parker. They both enjoyed traveling the world together until he went to be with his Lord in 2006.

As the matriarch, Bonnie enjoyed a loving family life. She was devoted to her children and a proud Granma and Gigi.

Bonnie deeply loved her friends and Snyder Memorial Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member for 71 years. She served people graciously by feeding them well - both spiritually and physically. She loved Jesus in word and deed by delivering many delicious meals to seniors in the community and frequently sharing the Good News of Jesus with them.

Bonnie had a strong zeal for life. She loved to laugh and dance and was always up for a new experience. She learned to kayak in her 70s and frequented the local rivers with close friends.

The family will be receiving friends on Thursday, April 11, 2024 at 10:00 am at Snyder Memorial Baptist Church Gathering Hall. The Celebration of Life will follow at 11:00 am in the sanctuary with Dr. Robbie Byrd officiating. A private burial will be in Valdosta, GA on Saturday, April 13, 2024.
