Betty Jean Croft

Betty J. Croft, 89, of Hahira, died on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at South Georgia Medical Center. She was born on February 21, 1936, in Pavo, Georgia to the late Henry and Tessie Lee Cannon Dixon and has been a life-long resident of this area. She was a homemaker and a member of Fellowship Baptist Church. In years past, she had worked for Walmart, Harvey’s grocery store and Grace’s grocery store in Pavo, Georgia, as well as working in childcare and babysitting for a period of time. She was an avid reader, and it was not uncommon for her to read as many at ten books or more per week. Above all, she loved her family and was happiest when they were around her.

Mrs. Croft is survived by her children and their spouses, Sandra (Sandy) and Ron Ramsey of Opelika, Alabama, Hank and Cheri Wilson of Quitman, Ricky Wilson of Quitman, Susan White of Valdosta, Danny Wilson of Morven, Cristy and Terry Hall of Morven, and Patti Croft and Susie White of Dothan, Alabama; 10 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and one great-greatgrandchild; her siblings and their spouses, Pat White of Florida, Sim and Brenda Dixon of Georgia, Gerald Dixon of Florida, Jenny Goodson of Georgia and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her husband, Pat Croft; a son, Randy Wilson; three grandsons, Dustin Morgan, Chad Wilson and Josh Mathis; her siblings, Frances Woods, Lawrence Dixon, Oree Dixon, Lamar Dixon and Irma Lee Dixon.

Services for Betty J. Croft will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at 2 p.m. at the Fellowship Baptist Church in Cecil with Rev. Ike Jefferson and Rev. Paul Coleman officiating. The burial will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Quitman. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. at the church.
