Betty Frances Clark, 83, of Valdosta, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at her home. She was born in Miami, FL on May 11, 1941, to the late Wade Franklin Freeman and Flora Nell Wood Freeman. She and her family moved to Boston, GA at an early age, where she attended school in Thomasville, and she was in the first class of Thomas County Central High School in 1959. Betty Frances then attended Valdosta State College to study Education, while there she met Charlie Clark, and they started dating. Betty Frances graduated in May of 1963 with an Education Degree, and they were married 2 weeks later on June 9, 1963. She followed Charlie during his brief military career and then they returned to Valdosta, where they raised their 2 girls. When the girls were in school, she started teaching at West Gordon and retired in the early 2000’s after 25 years. Betty Frances was an active member of PEO International, and a member of the Garden Club when the girls were small. Throughout the years she has participated in and encouraged women’s bible studies. She was devoted to her grandchildren, known as “Grand-B.” Betty Frances loved her flowers and making floral arrangements. Betty Frances was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church.
Betty Frances is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Cindy Clark of Valdosta, Cheryl and Brian Lingerfelt, of Greensboro, GA, her grandchildren, Cate Lingerfelt, and Eli Lingerfelt, also of Greensboro, GA; her sister Sybil Anderson, of Clayton, GA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Charlie Clark, and brother Elgin Freeman.
A Home Going Service will be held at 2pm on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at the River Pavilion at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1-2pm.
