Betty L. Anderson, 93, of Valdosta, passed away on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at Fellowship Home Brookside. Born on February 1, 1931, in Valdosta, to the late Oliver J. Roberson and Adrian Nesmith Roberson. Mrs. Anderson loved to work outdoors in her garden, and she cut her grass well into her 80’s. She was active for most of her life and was a fantastic softball player. She had worked for the Valdosta Police Department as a safety officer for 10 years. She had last worked for Hodges Drug Store, and was active with the American Legion, always serving in the kitchen. Mrs. Anderson was a member of West End Presbyterian Church. She was affectionally known as “Nanny Betty.”
Mrs. Anderson is survived by her son, Floyd Anderson (Debra) of Dallas,Ga, grandchildren, Dave Anderson (Lynette) of Statenville, Ga, Wesley Anderson (Ella and Abigail) of California, Mike Anderson (Lacey) Harley and Harper of Alabama, Natalie Nye(Jeff) of Ball Ground,Ga, Allison Baines (Rob) Carter and William, of Ball Ground, Ga; brothers, Donald Robertson (Lawanna), Fred Roberson (Donna), and Cecil Roberson (Susan) all of Valdosta; and niece, Lynn Piland (Donny). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband F.W. Anderson, son, David Anderson, and five brothers, O.J. Roberson, Robby Roberson, Melvin Roberson, Pete Roberson, and Clyde Roberson, as well as a sister, Martha Morrow.
The family will have a graveside service at Sunset Hill Cemetery on Thursday, October 3, at 11 a.m.
