Bessie
Gentry
April 4, 1941 – May 5, 2026
Bessie Gentry, 85, of Quitman, passed away on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Presbyterian Home. She was born on April 4, 1941, in Conroe, Texas, to the late Ralph Baker and Pauline Sanders Baker.
Mrs. Gentry had fond memories of her childhood growing up on a ranch in Colorado, a place she dearly loved. After marrying her husband Jerry they resided in Oklahoma until his passing in 1980. She then moved back to Colorado to a simpler life on the plains.
In 2013 her daughter brought her to Valdosta to be closer to family. She often reminisced about her years in Colorado, but her greatest joy was always her family, especially the time spent together at reunions. She was known to have a spunky spirit and never met a stranger. She loved her chihuahuas, and enjoyed sewing and crochet. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Mrs. Gentry is survived by her daughter, Jerrie (Jamie) Underwood of Valdosta; her stepson, Mike (Debbie) Trolinder of St. Cloud, Florida; and her grandchildren, Britney (Blake) Miller of Hahira, Alex Usic of Valdosta, and Sean, Brandi, and Sierra Trolinder of St. Cloud, Florida. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Tatum and Greyson Stiffler, Cade Miller of Hahira, Maddox Heinly and Audrina Heinly, of St. Cloud, FL; her brother, Bill (Dottie) Baker of Valdosta; her nephew, Justin Baker; and her niece, Shelly (Rob) Barber.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry Dale Gentry; and her nephew, Travis Baker.
In accordance with her wishes, Mrs. Gentry will be cremated, and no services are planned at this time. Online condolences may be shared at www.mclanecares.com.
Carson McLane Funeral Home is assisting the Gentry family at this time.
