Athelene “Lena” Burkett, 93, of Valdosta, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. She was born in Ocilla on December 4, 1932, to the late Willie Powell and Susie Lake Powell. Mrs. Burkett worked as a nurse for over 25 years. She enjoyed quilting, embroidery, making ceramics, and talking with others. She dearly loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed camping. She was a member of Abundant Life Church of God.

Mrs. Burkett is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Michele and David Blankenship, of Valdosta; her daughter, Regina Williams, of Shelton, NE; her son and daughter-in-law, Raymond Earl and Carolyn Burkett, of Lakeland, FL; and 9 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond Otto Burkett; and her daughter, Jan Daly.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens, with Pastor Raymond Gabbard officiating.
