Annie M. (Grannie) Hughes, 90, of Naylor died on Saturday, February 27, 2010, at South Georgia Medical Center after a brief illness. Born in Valdosta on December 16, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Gertrude Moore Allen. She was a member of Good Hope Baptist Church and a member of Woodman of the World for over 60 years. Grannie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and a friend to all. She opened her home to many special people making sure that everyone had plenty to eat.

Surviving are two daughters and a son in law, Patricia Roberts of Naylor, Janet and Larry Kinsey of Lake Park; grandchildren, Brian Roberts of Naylor, John Roberts of Valdosta, Ginger and Billy Jackson of Naylor, Tennille and Mitch Starling of Nashville, Renee Pittman of Valdosta; great grandchildren, Hunter Jackson, Ethan Starling, Kyle Roberts, Samantha Roberts, Madeline Roberts; son in law, Richard Pittman of Valdosta, daughter in law, Sandra Pate of Naylor; extended family, Bruce and Elaine Roberts and family, Barbara Mercer and family; numerous nieces and nephews; special caregivers, Denise Foster, Lisa Bailey, Pat Sharpe, Mildred Cowart and Lattina Sadler. Mrs. Hughes was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon Hughes, a son, Richard Hughes and a son in law, Bob Roberts.

Funeral services will be held at Good Hope Baptist Church on Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at 2 p.m. Reverend A.M. Anderson will officiate. Burial will follow at Good Hope Cemetery in Naylor. Mrs. Hughes will lie in state at the church from 1 p.m. until service time. The family will receive friends at the Carson McLane Funeral Home on Monday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. Flowers will be accepted or a donation may be made to Good Hope Cemetery Fund, 6758 Good Hope Circle, Naylor, GA., 31611.
