Andy Crosby, 74, of Valdosta, died on Friday, December 19, 2025 at Fellowship Home. Born in Valdosta to the late A.D & Eugenia Crosby on November 1, 1951, he was a lifelong resident of this area. Growing up in Valdosta, Andy graduated from Valdosta High School in 1971. Following school, he helped his parents maintain their apartment buildings before he studied to become an EMT. He was able to be a part of the first class of EMTs at Pineview Medical Center, now SGMC. As he started his family he helped coach little league baseball teams for his son while working numerous jobs to provide for his growing family. In the mid 1980’s he started his own business with all types of heavy equipment and land clearing for over 30 years before stepping back because of his health. Andy also helped his wife at Precious Treasurers Day Care Center lovely referred to as “Mr. Andy”. Being outdoors was a favorite pastime, whether it was in his deer stands which were well known for their amenities, his larger than life fishing stories, or playing on his heavy equipment. Whitewater held a special place for Andy. His love of Whitewater came from a special bond between he and his grandparents in which he passed down to his family and friends. To know Andy was to know that you could throw a worm or cricket in the pond anytime as long as you threw back the big ones. In his later years, he became well known for his passion and dedication to serve in the food bank at Perimeter Road Baptist Church. He will be fondly remembered by his family, especially for his frugality and his unheeded warnings of danger.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Debbie Crosby of Valdosta, his son and daughter in law, Denny & Lisa Crosby of Atlanta; three daughters and two sons in law, Mendy Crosby of Valdosta, Kelly & Jonathan Spell of Hahira and Tammy & Tyler Cannon of Shreveport, LA; his sister, Tress Redish of Valdosta and nine grandchildren, Dalton Crosby, Seneca (& Parker) Smith, Haddon Crosby, Katherine Spell, Samuel Spell, Lincoln Spell, Carson Cannon, Hampton Cannon and Willow Cannon; and several cousins and close friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Bernard & Lavina Holland.
A funeral for Mr. Crosby will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at Perimeter Road Baptist Church. Denny Crosby will officiate. Burial will follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Carson McLane funeral home on Monday evening from 5 until 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Perimeter Road Baptist Church Food Bank, www.perimeterroad.com. Condolences may be conveyed to the family on the obituary page of www.mclanecares.com.
