Alton Thomas Stapp

August 29, 1939 — November 20, 2023

Alton Thomas Stapp, 84, of Lake Park, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2023. He was born in Social Circle, GA, to the late Bryant T. Stapp and Marie Brown Stapp. Mr. Stapp had worked for Strickland Cotton Mill as a machine operator. He enjoyed being outdoors, and riding with friends in the Wagon Riding Club he started. He loved to watch westerns on television. He was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.

Mr. Stapp is survived by his children and their spouses, Tammie (Robbie) Simpson, of Valdosta, Tamara (J.R.) McGee, of Lake Park, Tracy Stapp, of Thomasville; his grandchildren, Reese (Julia) Simpson, of Thomasville, Tayler (William) Ebert, of Valdosta, Emma (Cody) Ebert, of Deland, FL, Anna Elizabeth Burbee, of Texas; his great grandchild, William “Liam” Thomas Ebert, IV, of Valdosta; and two sisters, Dorothy Edwards and Annie Maude Chandler. He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife of 53 years Linda Lou Reese Stapp, and his siblings, Fred Stapp, William Stapp, Millie Adams, Jessie Mashburn, Cora Lee Corbitt, Elizabeth Knight, and Moena Corbitt.

A funeral service for Mr. Stapp will be held at 2pm on Friday, November 24, 2023 at Corinth Baptist Church and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1-2pm prior to the service. Online condolences may be shared at
