Alton Lewis, 95, of Valdosta, died on Friday, May 30, 2025, at Holly Hill Nursing Home following a period of declining health. He was born in Jennings, Florida on April 23, 1930, to the late Buford and Willie Mae Lewis. Mr. Lewis was a veteran of the United States Air Force and retired from Tommy Griner Cadillac as an auto mechanic. He was a member of Jennings Methodist Church.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Melanie Lewis of Valdosta; his grandchildren and their spouses, Jody Pilgrim, Maria Scott and David Redish, Travis and Camile Lewis, David and Alana Lewis, Zackary Lewis, Brook Lewis all of Valdosta, Joshua Pilgrim of Orlando, Florida and Selena and George Joyce of Valdosta; 12 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren; a special family friend, Joyce Allen. Mr. Lewis was preceded by his wife, Gladys Lewis, his son, David Lewis and his daughters, Polly Pilgrim and Brenda Dwyer.
A graveside service for Alton Lewis will be held on Monday, June 2, 2025, at 10 a.m. at Sassers Landing Cemetery in Jennings, Florida. Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com. Carson McLane.
