Albert Sutton

February 21, 1935 — July 26, 2023

Albert Rabon (Ray) Sutton, 88, of Valdosta, died on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at his residence. He was born in Valdosta on February 21, 1935, to the late Charlie Albert and Missy Golden Sutton, and has been a lifelong resident of this area. He had been employed with Owens Illinois in the past and then went on to work and retire from Lowndes Engineering Company (LECO) where he worked in the manufacturing department. Mr. Sutton was a veteran of the United States Navy and was a member of Gonwood Church of Christ. Mr. Sutton lived a simple and humble life. He was known for his love of the Lord as well as family and friends. He did, however, love fishing and eating seafood and was particularly fond of eating at the Fish Net, where his favorite meal to order was fried shrimp, french fries and coleslaw.


He is survived by his son, Mark Sutton (Shanna) of Valdosta; daughter-in-law, Susan Sutton, of Valdosta; a brother, Bobby Sutton of Gainesville, Florida; 7 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Jean Sutton; his son, Keith Sutton; and his siblings, Alvin, R.V., Letha and Louise.


Services for Ray Sutton will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023, at 4 p.m. in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Bro. Thomas Ruffin officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home. Following the services, Mr. Sutton will be cremated according to his wishes and a private family committal will take place at a later date at Sunset Hill Cemetery.
