Mrs. Addie Newsome Jones, affectionately called “Ms. Addie” was born in Quitman, GA to Joe and Minnie McClain. She was educated in the Brooks County and Valdosta School Systems, graduating from Dasher High School. Addie furthered her education at Valdosta Technical College earning an LPN degree. She worked a number of years at Child Care Network. Addie retired from South Georgia Medical Center after working thirty years.

Addie entered into marriage with Mr. Boise Newsome, Jr. To this union, they were blessed with one beautiful daughter, Gloria L. Warren. Mr. Newsome preceded Addie in death. Addie also was preceded in death by her second husband, Rev. Robert M. Jones, whom she married in 1978. Mrs. Addie loved her family, friends, and patients. Mrs. Addie worked to fulfill her calling to minister and serve others. She served others by listening and demonstrating a caring heart.

Addie leaves to cherish her memories, her daughter, Gloria L. Warren (Michael). One grandson, Attorney Malcom J. Warren, Esq of Valdosta, GA. Additional grandchildren, Stepchildren, Tony Jones and Robert Jones, Jr., grandchildren Ashton Jones, Aisa Jones, Lisa Jones, and Sean Jones. Nieces Shirley Garland (James), Brenda Walker of Valdosta, GA. Her sister-in-law and brothers-in-laws, Rosa Rawlings, James (Wendy) Clayton of Warner Robins, Georgia and Charlie B. Newsome of Daytona, FL. Addie played an integral role in the lives of her Godchildren, the late Jennifer Binford Brown, Elaine Dawsey, JoAnn B. Jones, and Margaret L. Moore.

Addie will be dearly missed by a host of cousins and other family members to include Essie Williams and Jimmy Williams families.

A funeral service to celebrate Addie’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, July 12, 2025, in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Burial will follow at McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive visitors Friday, July 11 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. The family welcomes online condolences at www.mclanecares.com.
