October 18, 1915 — April 19, 2015

Willie Mae Register, 99, of Hahira died Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Lakehaven Nursing Home. She was born in Perry, Florida of October 18, 1915 to the late Willie H. and Jessie Mae Roundtree Phelps. Mrs. Register was a longtime member of Bethany Baptist Church. She spent her youth in Hahira and after graduation from high school, she moved to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Retiring after twenty nine years at Burdines Department Store and the death of her husband, Henry Mack Sharpe, she returned to Hahira and became the wife of the late Doc Register. Mrs. Register had been living at the Rachel House Assisted Living in Sparks for the past several years.
Mrs. Register was preceded in death by her husbands, Henry Mack Sharpe and Doc Register, her sister, Mary Catherine Parrish Gordon; her brother Marvin Phelps, Sr., nephew and his wife, Marvin, Jr. and Barbara Phelps, a sister in law, Leila Gaston; two stepsons and a stepdaughter in law, Jerome and Lucille Register, Mack Register, stepson in law, Vernon Cain.
Survivors include her son and daughter in law, Talley Mack Sharpe and Betts Sharpe of Gatlinburg, TN; granddaughter and her husband, Amy and Stephen Rothgeb; great grandchildren, Talia and Burke Rothgeb; sister in law, Stella Phelps of Sebring, FL; nieces; Mary Virginia Grygiel, Jeannie Barnes, Doris Tuten; nephews, Mike Parrish, Gary Parrish, Frank Phelps, Lloyd Parker; stepdaughter, Jean Cain of Hahira, stepdaughter in law, Sarah Register of Hahira; several step grandchildren, step great grandchildren and step great-great grandchildren, cousins and many dear friends.
A special thanks are given to Raymond and Kay Dorminey along with their staff who made her living at Rachel House such a loving experience. Their care and thoughtfulness will always be appreciated.
Graveside services will be held at 2pm, Sunday, April 26, 2015 at the Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the graveside service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Salem United Methodist Church in Hahira, GA 31632. Condolences to the family may be conveyed online at www.mclanecares.com.
