Willie Linton Folsom, MSGT. Ret. USAF, 79, of Brooks County died on Thursday, May 22, 2014 at his residence following a lengthy illness. He was born on March 26, 1935 in Barney, Georgia to the late Roy Alton and Kate Michael Folsom. Mr. Folsom served during the Viet Nam War and retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of faithful and dedicated service. Upon retirement he worked as a salesman for West Building Supplies and Mackey Lumber Company. Mr. Folsom was a past Mason who loved to fish, work with his fruit trees, and work in his shop. He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Barney.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Susan Folsom of Clearwater, Florida, Dale and Debbie Folsom of Tampa, Florida, and Bruce and Deborah Williams of Tallahassee, Florida; three daughters and sons-in-law, Toinyette and Roy Bradford of Morven, Phyllis and Pete Hare of Petal, Mississippi, and Donna and Ricky Gay of Valdosta; 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlene Rebecca Folsom; a son, Keith Folsom, and two brothers, Roy Aubrey Folsom and Donald Alton Folsom.
Services for Willie Linton Folsom will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Earl Justice officiating. The internment will follow in the McLane Riverview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
