William "Bill" Baldwyn Grant, Jr.

William “Bill” Baldwyn Grant, Jr., 77, of Valdosta, GA (formerly of Bainbridge, GA) passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at the Presbyterian Home in Quitman. He was born on March 2, 1943 in Shreveport, LA, to the late Dr. William B. Grant, Sr. and Melva Croxton Grant. Bill studied Advertising and Marketing at Brigham Young University and served his mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Los Angeles, CA. He worked in the newspaper industry until his retirement having served, in recent times, as editor for the Adel newspaper. He was an avid Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldog fan, enjoyed painting, and was known for his optimism and great sense of humor. Bill was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Valdosta.
He is survived by his loving wife, Freda L. Grant of Valdosta; his children, Tina Grant Harrison of Atlanta, GA, William (Heather) B. Grant III of Bainbridge and Katie (Jason) Grant Maxwell of Bainbridge GA; his stepchildren, Jimmy (Tiffany) Gill of Moab, UT, Joseph Gill of Valdosta, GA, Jessy (Melissa) Gill of Monticello, UT, Jerry (Cristi) Gill of Valdosta, GA, Jeannie (Jody) Hurst of Statenville, GA and John (Jackie) Gill of Valdosta, GA. He was blessed with 25 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Paula Joan Grant; his sister, Leola Grant Hatcher; his niece, Larla Hatcher French, and his nephew, Richard Hatcher.
Services for William “Bill” Baldwyn Grant, Jr. will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2020 in the chapel of the Carson McLane Funeral Home with Blaine Pearce officiating.
