Waunee Wheeler Walker

Waunee Wheeler Walker died Thursday, September 17, 2020 after a brief illness. She was born in Alma, Georgia on November 11, 1925 to the late B. Frank and Lois Wheeler. Waunee graduated from Bacon County High School and was a graduate of Andrew College in Cuthbert, GA.
Mrs. Walker was a member of the First Christian Church of Valdosta for over 70 years where she served as Deacon, a faithful member of the Chancel Choir and the Tillman Calendar Womens Group. Waunee loved to play Bridge and was a member of many clubs including Tea Dance and Valdosta Country Club. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother as well as a devoted friend.
Waunee is survived by one daughter, Linda Cullen of Valdosta, two sons, John (Diane) Walker and Fred, Jr. (Beverly) Walker of Valdosta, five grandchildren, Tom (Becky) Clifford of Hahira, Tricia (Kevin) Herring of Hahira and Jason Grady of Valdosta, Jennifer (Charles) Peace and Libby (Sloan) Craft of Hahira, Heather (John) Hadder of Hoover, AL, great grandchildren, Ella Rose and Rhett Clifford, Trey, Huntley and Wheeler Herring, Autumn, Harding Walker Peace, Kayne Craft and sister in law, Joan Wheeler of Dallas, TX along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Fred Harding Walker, daughter, Wanda Walker Weik, son in law, William Patrick Cullen, parents, B. Frank and Lois Wheeler, brothers, Bennie Ralph (Edna) Wheeler, Billy Robert Wheeler and Eugene Wheeler.
Funeral services will be held Monday, September 21, 2020 at eleven a. m. at the graveside at Sunset Hill Cemetery. Burial will follow. Mr. John Chick will officiate. The family will receive friends Sunday from three until five p. m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers please make donations to First Christian Church, 1905 North Patterson Street, Valdosta, GA 31602 or to Second Harvest of South Georgia (Food Bank), 1411 Harbin Circle, Valdosta, GA 31601.
