Virginia (Ginny) Smith Sumner Kehoe

Virginia (Ginny) Smith Sumner Kehoe, 51, of Valdosta died Monday, August 27, 2012 at her home. She was born in Valdosta on March 7, 1961 and was a lifelong resident of Valdosta. Ginny had been a member of Crossroads Baptist Church and had recently joined the Catholic Church. She spent her childhood and young adult years as a member of First United Methodist Church in Valdosta. Ginny was a loving mother and enjoyed sitting in the sun. She was a dedicated teacher with the Lowndes County School System having been named Teacher of the Year at Hahira Middle School and was currently teaching at Lowndes High School.

Survivors include her husband, Jim Kehoe, two daughters, Trinity Sumner and Patricia Sumner, her parents, Tom Bush and Patricia Smith, her brother and sister in law, T. Bush and Tina Smith, two furry family members, Choco and Bailey all of Valdosta. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Trent R. Sumner, grandparents, Harry Jack Carroll and Nelle Carroll Smith, Tom, Sr. and Alberta Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 11am, Thursday, August 30, 2012 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Dr. Ken Alford and Dr. Bob Moon officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5-8pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Ginny Sumner Kehoe Memorial Fund in care of First State Bank, Attn; Amy Cowart, P. O. Box 4810, Valdosta, GA 31604.
