V. B. Mclain

August 19, 1917 — March 12, 2009

V.B. McLain, 91, of Valdosta, died on March 12, 2009, at Penney Farms Nursing Home in Penny Farms, FL. Born on August 19, 1917 in Greensboro, FL, he was the son of the late Riley Sebaston and Gertrude Sallie Elkins McLain. Mr. McLain was a United States Army veteran of World War II and served in the Pacific Theater. He retired from the FAA and was in the construction business in Valdosta from 1950-1982 when he moved to Blairsville. He was a faithful Gideon and was on the Board of Directors for the Mailbox Club. Mr. McLain was a former member of Grace Bible Church.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Brenda and David Brown of Valdosta; grandchildren, Houston McLain and Cameron Brown of Valdosta, Jordan Alison Brown of Valdosta; great-granddaughter, Brittin McLain Brown; brother, Floyd McLain of Tampa, FL. Mr. McLain was preceded in death by his wife, Alice McLain.

Services will be held at 3 P.M. on Sunday, March 15, 2009 at Grace Bible Church with Rev. Rick Hofmeister and Mr. George Eager officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service. Burial will be at a later date in Blairsville at Union Memorial Gardens. Donations may be made to the Mailbox Club or the Gideons International.
