Thomas William Shockley

Thomas William Shockley, 82, of Valdosta, died Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Langdale Hospice House. He was born June 22, 1928 in Chattanooga, TN and was a 1947 graduate of Dasher Bible School now Georgia Christian School. Mr. Shockley was a faithful member of the Church of Christ for seventy two years and had served twenty four years as a deacon and an elder at the Bryan Street Church of Christ in Rossville, GA. He was a member of the Forrest Park Church of Christ.

Mr. Shockley is preceded in death by his parents, W. B. and Musa Case Shockley, his son, David Shockley and his siblings, L'Nita Macon, Lonnie Blackwell and Laura Simpson. He is survived by his wife of fifty nine years, Thelma Boyd Shockley and his daughter and son in law, Glenda S. and Bill Ward of Valdosta, his daughter in law, Judy Shockley of Memphis, TN, five grandchildren, Christie Shockley of the Czech Republic, Phillip Shockley of Memphis, Timothy Ward of Montgomery, AL, Katie Quintero (Alex) of Denver, CO and Kyla Ward of Valdosta, one sister, Vivian S. Anderson of Hendersonville, TN, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 16, 2011 at seven p. m. at the Forrest Park Church of Christ with Mr. Bill Ward officiating. Visitation will begin at six p. m. at the church. Graveside services and burial will be at Forrest Hill Cemetery in Chattanooga, TN Thursday, May 19, 2011 at eleven a. m. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to Langdale Hospice House, P. O.
