Thomas H. (Tommy) Hall

June 28, 1943 — June 7, 2008

THOMAS H. (TOMMY) HALL, 64, of Valdosta, lost his nine-year battle with cancer on Saturday, June 7, 2008 at Langdale Hospice House. He was born in Brooks County on June 28, 1943, a son of the late Everett and Doris Thomas Hall. Tommy retired from Levi Strauss & Co. after thirty-five years of service in shipping and receiving, and then worked at Colonial Bag as a forklift operator for five years.

He attended Pleasant Way Baptist Church. He had a strong work ethic, was a dedicated family man, and loved playing with his grandchildren. He volunteered all of his life to teaching youth sports, family values, and influencing lives in a positive way. For thirty years he coached Boys & Girls Club basketball, football and baseball. He assisted in coaching Valwood football to two state championships in 1985 and 1986, as well as coaching the girls' basketball team. Many of his former players still refer to him as "Coach". Tommy was also an avid Valdosta Wildcat and Georgia Bulldog fan.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Keen Hall of Valdosta, two daughters and son-in-laws, Lisa and Roger Carpenter of Hahira, and Laurie and Ben Henderson of Clyattville, one son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Stacey Hall of Lake Park, five grandchildren, Wendi and husband Ross Kidd, Shannon Carpenter, Shelby and Brittany Henderson, and Taylor Hall, one great-grandson, Deven Thomas Kidd, two brothers, E. Gerald and wife Bonnie Hall of Valdosta, and Ed Hall of Fitzgerald, one sister, Diane McMullen of Valdosta, many nieces and nephews, and his canine companion, Beau. He is also survived by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Carolyn and Harold Keen of Lake Park, brother-in-law, Kevin and wife Lynne Keen of Yatesville, and sister-in-law, Claudia and husband Marc Butterick of Warner Robins. He was predeceased by a sister-in-law, Jeanette Felts Hall.

Services will be held at 11 am Tuesday, June 10, 2008 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Watson officiating. Burial will follow in Hall Cemetery.
