Thearis Rowan, 88, of Valdosta, died Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at Smith Northview Hospital. She was born on September 24, 1920 in Berrien County. Mrs. Rowan was a homemaker.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Albert and Margaret Rowan of Valdosta, Christine and Bill Roberts of Clyattville, Dewayne and Rhoda Rowan and Gene Rowan of Valdosta, James (Doodle) Rowan of Ray City, Buggy and Toni Rowan of Valdosta and Vivian and Freddy Brown of Lake Park, thirty four grandchildren, fourty six great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Rowan is preceded in death by her mother, Pearlie Mae Cato, her husband, Lossie Elijah Rowan, her son, Ronnie Rowan, three grandsons, William Monk, Kevin and Christopher Rowan, one great grandson, Jeffery Travis Monk, her sister, Bessie Sapp and her brother, Henry Cato.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 29, 2009 at three p. m. at the graveside at Riverside Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Berrien County. Burial will follow. The family will receive friends from 10:30 a. m. until 11:30 a. m. Friday at the Carson McLane Funeral Home. Condolences to the family may be expressed online at mclanefuneralservices.com.
