Sylvania (Granny) Smiley

Sylvania (Granny) Smiley, 83, died at her home on Monday, August 20, 2007 after a lengthy illness. She is formerly of Okalahawa, FL, but was a resident of Valdosta for 12 years. She was born in Crystal River, FL on May 28, 1924 to the late Kibby Gordon and Lelia Barbara Arnold. Ms. Smiley was a wonderful lady, who was greatly loved by her family and friends and she was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by her daughters, Mary F. Windham of Valdosta and Sue Ann Mahan of Wildwood, FL; daughter and son-in-law, Patsy Marlene and Robert Mikalskis of Dunellon, FL and son, Ervin Gordon (Buddy) Edwards of Jacksonville, FL. She is also survived by twenty-three grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and several great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Smiley and her grandson, Jimmy Eugene Hutchinson.

The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, August 23, 2007 in the chapel of Carson McLane Funeral Home with Reverend Tim Blanton officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 3 p.m. until the service begins. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens.
