Steven Anthony Greene

Steven Anthony Greene, 57, of Valdosta, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, May 27, 2013, at his home.

He was born March 30, 1956 in Valdosta, a son of the late Harvey E. and Marjorie Culp Greene. He graduated from Eastside High School, Gainesville, FL, and from the Georgia State Police Academy. Mr. Greene, a Christian man, had been a Police Officer with the Valdosta City Police and the Lowndes County Sheriffs Department, before his twenty year career with Norfolk-Southern Railroad. He loved his family, hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his seven children, Steven Zachary and wife Sara Godoy Greene of Springfield, VA, Tessa Marie and husband Daniel Carder of Dasher, Tyler Anthony and wife Elizabeth Greene of Dasher, Adam Gabriel and wife Leanna Greene of Lake Park, Jordan Emory Greene, Dillon Ethan Greene, and Savanna Caitlin Greene, all of Valdosta; five grandchildren, Alexandria Marie Wilkes, Drayke Copeland Carder, Harper Raelynn Greene, Adleigh Adair Greene, and Liam Dewey Greene; four brothers, Mike Greene of Miami, FL, Marvin and wife Kathy Greene of Valdosta, Greg Greene of Parkersburg, WV, and Bruce Greene of Charlotte, NC; special loved one, Teresa Greene of Valdosta; and special uncle and aunt, Olly and Rudene Harris of Valdosta.

The Funeral Service for Mr. Greene will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2013, at Dasher Church of Christ, with Mr. Marvin Greene and Mr. David Nelson officiating. Interment will follow at Dasher Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the Carson McLane Funeral Home.
