Stephen Nelson

Stephen Nelson, 71, of Valdosta, passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2014, at Shands at the University of Florida, Gainesville, FL.

He was born October 31, 1942 in Chico, CA, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Nelson. Stephen honorably served in the U.S. Navy and for many years in the medical field. An artist, he was a member of the Southern Artist League (S.A.L.) and was active in local exhibits and shows.

In addition to his wife of thirty-four years, Vic Douglass of Valdosta; he is survived by a step-son of Alabama; his mother, brother and two sisters, all of Missouri.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. on Monday, January 20, 2014 at the Carson McLane Funeral Home, Valdosta. Cremation will follow. Please omit flowers. Condolences to the family may be expressed online at www.mclanecares.com.
