Shirley Barrett

Shirley Barrett, 54, of Valdosta passed away June 28, 2015 at her residence following a lengthy illness. She was born September 10, 1960 in Angeles City, Philippines. She was the daughter of the late Corazon Gernale. As an ROTC cadet in high school, she achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Although she did not join the service, she did become an Air Force wife and traveled with her husband and three children, they settled in Valdosta in 2000. In her spare time, she loved to fish. She enjoyed sewing and knitting and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Barrett is survived by her husband of thirty years, Randy Barrett; a son, Raymond Barrett of Lexington, SC; two daughters, Felicia Barrett of San Francisco, CA, Amy Barrett, RN of Vancouver, WA; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Wendy Gernale of Valdosta; sister and brother-in-law, Diana and Billy Prince of Tennessee; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Linda and James Inman of Indianapolis, IN; brother-in-law, Wayne Barrett of San Antonio, TX; three sisters-in-law, Staci and Mark Montgomery of San Antonio, TX, Leslie and David Caulk of Indianapolis, IN, Donna Joe and Steve Reardon of Knoxville, TN; several nieces and nephews and a large extended family. The family would like to give a special thanks to the Chambers and Haskins Family of Valdosta.

A memorial service for Shirley Barrett will be held on Monday, July 6, 2015 at 3 p.m. in the Carson McLane Chapel. The family will have visitation beginning at 2 p.m. until service time.
